Dialogos gathers thinkers from every era, from antiquity to the present day, around a single table to discuss a topic you choose. These aren't recycled quotes: each thinker embodies their actual thought, their theses, their way of reasoning and expressing themselves, and keeps that same coherence throughout the exchange with the others.
You choose two to five thinkers from those on offer, for example Plato, Spinoza, Nietzsche, Simone de Beauvoir, or Confucius, then propose a topic for reflection. Each takes their turn, responds to what the others have just said, and the dialogue takes its own course.
Each character is built from their biography, their works, and their actual philosophical positions, with precise instructions to keep them faithful to their thought and their era: Epictetus will never mention an event after the 2nd century, Nietzsche will never budge on the will to power. It's Claude, Anthropic's AI model, that brings each of these characters to life.
Another key point: the exchange takes place in the language you use. Propose your topic in English, Spanish, Japanese, or any other language, and each thinker will reply to you in that same language, while keeping their own voice and vocabulary.
During a meeting, you stay in control of the pace: move forward turn by turn, or launch continuous playback to let the dialogue unfold on its own. At any moment, you can ask for a summary of the ongoing exchange.
Once the discussion is finished (or partway through), you can export it as .txt or .pdf to keep it, or share it publicly: a unique link is generated, viewable by anyone who receives it, with no account required.
With your own Anthropic API key: add it from your account, it is encrypted and only used for your own conversations. Usage is then free on Dialogos: only your Anthropic account is billed, based on your own consumption. As a precaution, it is recommended to create a dedicated API key with a spending cap, rather than using your main key.
Without an API key: buy a 7-day pass for €2 via PayPal, and use the access managed by Dialogos with nothing to configure yourself.
The wiki presents a page for each thinker available in the salon, with their biography, main works, and the broad outlines of their thought, accessible from the "Wiki" button in the navigation. This list matches exactly the characters offered in the salon, and grows every time a new philosopher is added.
Dialogos also offers a library of public-domain philosophical texts, freely readable by anyone from the "Library" button in the navigation, regardless of the site's current language. Works are grouped by author and shown with a flag indicating their original language, detected automatically. Any logged-in user can suggest a new work.
Every uploaded file is first checked: only PDF, EPUB and TXT are accepted, under a 200 MB limit per file, and its actual content is verified beyond its declared name to prevent an executable from being disguised as a document. It is then subjected to an antivirus scan before ever being stored on the server. Uploads from any account other than the administrator's remain pending and are not shown publicly until manually reviewed; only the administrator account can approve, reject, or delete a work.
The topics and exchanges you create are only used to generate the characters' responses. Your personal API key, if you add one, is encrypted before being stored and is never shared.
Personal API key (if you add one): encrypted at rest with the AES-256-GCM algorithm before being saved to the database, using a dedicated encryption key, completely separate from the database, never sent to the browser nor visible to another user.
Meetings are automatically saved to your private history, viewable and deletable at any time from your "My account" area. If you share a conversation, it becomes accessible via its link to anyone who has it, until you delete it yourself, also from "My account".
Communication between your browser and the server is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).
Password: never stored in plain text. It is hashed before being saved using the bcrypt algorithm, a one-way function that makes recovering its original form impossible, even for the site's operator.
Account deletion : Every user can delete their account at any time from their "My account" area. This deletion causes the immediate and permanent erasure of all associated information on the server (nickname, email, password, personal API key, current managed access, usage history, shared conversation links). This action is irreversible and cannot be undone, including by the site's operator.
